What happens at Woodstick?
Woodstick is a drumming event where we attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most drummers playing drumsets simultaneously. The current record is 533 (our number from last year). We expect far more this year. You'll join over 500 drummers on drumsets (including about a dozen celebrity drummers) and a live band playing several songs and drum patterns. The celebrity drummers will be featured in a brief question and answer session and a round of drum solos. There will will be over $10,000.00 worth of drum gear given away to the highest pledge earners and local schools, in several contests and in random drawings.
Who can participate/attend?
Anyone can participate or attend, even beginners. To participate you must bring your own drum set and be able to play a simple rock beat at a moderate tempo (about 100 beats per minute). Or you may purchase one of our packages where we set-up one of our drum sets for you.
If I can't make it to the event, may I donate to the event?
Yes, donations are very important. We have a matching fund program set up for monies going to the Hearing Research Center at the University of Washington.
Is there an age limit?
Woodstick is open to drummers of all ages. We have had drummers as young as 4 years old and as old as 85. Participants will not be supervised. We ask that very young children be accompanied by an adult.
How can I participate if do not play the drums?
We're offering a FREE Woodstick group lesson. You'll learn to play a basic drum set beat and fill, everything you need to know to participate in this Guinness world record event. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, ALL AGES!!
We supply the drums for the class. The class is FREE but you must register in advance. Class is limited to the first 20 registrants. Please call 425-747-6145 to register.
Do I need to raise pledges to participate?
No, but we urgently request that everyone that attends try to raise at least $100.00 in pledges. If you raise $100 in pledges your $25 registration fee will be refunded. Remember there are 3 huge prizes that will be given away to the top pledge raisers.
Where does the money go?
Some funds will go to school music programs - proceeds from our Drum Raffle will go to local school programs. Some funds will go to Network Services a non-profit agency that assists homeless families with children to find housing and jobs. The majority of funds will go to hearing loss research at the University of Washington where we have up to one million dollars in matching funds available.
Can the money that I raise be donated to my school?
Not specifically, however any school in the Puget Sound area can request a musical instrument donation from our Puget Sound Musical Instrument Fund. Donation requests from the schools that raise the most pledges will receive priority attention. Be sure to indicate the name of your school on your PLEDGE FORM

Should I label my gear?
YES. There will be hundreds of drum sets at Woodstick. We don't want anyone to loose anything. We recommend you label each piece of your drum set with your name and phone #. To the best of our knowledge nobody has ever lost any drum gear at Woodstick in the past. Let's keep it that way.
