    - LOUIEFEST is your opportunity to get out there and make some noise, kick some musical tires and make new friends, and even if you haven't played live before, you can help make music history as we ALL play 'LOUIE LOUIE' in unison. WHAT A SOUND THAT'S GOING TO BE !!! In fact it's a sound that's only been heard a couple of times before, at our previous LouieFest music festivals. And this year it's going to be bigger, louder, and a complete, total, happening, music ever!

"It doesn't matter if you play twelve strings, six strings, four strings or one. When you hear 'Louie Louie' playing, you just got to dance."

There will be an attempt to set a Guinness World record of the most guitars playing "Louie Louie" the international (we say galactic . . . ) anthem of Rock 'n' Roll, together: bands, solo performers, electric guitar players, electric bass players, acoustic guitar players, homemade players, participate in our attempt to set a new Guinness World Record.

Susan K. Walters - Susan has been a resident of Washington State for over 37 years. She has worked in non-profit fundraising for 18 years. The last six years she has worked as an independent consultant focusing on special event coordination and grant writing. She has worked for non-profits in the arena of education and social services.

Music has always been a big part of her life. Her husband has played in and out of bands for the past 35 years, his love for the blues has driven his recent founding of the The Walter Guy Band, a Portland based blues band. Her oldest son, Keaton plays the drums and will be a participant at Woodstick ‘07, and her youngest son Kyler is just learning to play the guitar.

Susan has witnessed first hand the effects of hearing loss with her older brother Darrell who spent 6 years in the Air Force. He worked in a security capacity leading pilots to their planes. This left him with 60% hearing loss. Mrs. Walters is excited to support this very worthy project.

The Tacoma Weekly - How do you find out what’s happening in your community? Pick up a copy of one of Pierce County Community Newspaper Group’s (PCCNG) community newspapers: Tacoma Weekly, Fife Free Press or Milton-Edgewood Signal. Our philosophy is to cover local news and events tailored to the communities we serve. While other newspapers often stretch out their coverage over a wide geographic area, we choose to focus on specific cities. PCCNG, a locally owned and operated newspaper organization, has been the proud publisher of its flagship newspaper Tacoma Weekly for 20 years. Over the past two decades, Tacoma Weekly has developed a solid reputation as a reliable source of information for Tacoma. Our emphasis is on events that impact the lives of our readers – action taken by local governments, how local high school sports teams are faring, what’s happening on local stages and where to go when readers have free time to enjoy. PCCNG also publishes two newspapers serving suburbs of Tacoma. The Fife Free Press covers news from the city of Fife, Fife School District and local businesses. The Milton-Edgewood Signal serves the cities of Milton and Edgewood, covering news from both city governments as well as local school and business news.

Ted Brown Music - Ted Brown opened the doors to his new music store, Ted Brown Music, his primary product was pianos. The obvious supplement to this was sheet music. Band Instruments came in next to support the product line and make a well rounded music store. During the mid 40's, in the midst of WWII, all metal was diverted to the war effort so band instruments were not even made. Needing to get things to sell, Ted called on his many friends and contacts in the business world. While he couldn't get musical instruments, he could get things like model planes and watches. This was enough to keep people coming in so that when inventory became available, customers shopped first with him. The business grew by adding televisions, home stereo systems and records.

We were there from the start of rock and roll, with Elvis, Buddy Holly and all the rest. Ted's son, Warren, came to work full time in 1958. He recalled that one of his favorite window displays was where he put out a single color TV set and filled the window of the downtown store with colored balloons. It looked as if the television was floating and it was a spectacular way to introduce the new color sets! It was only a few short years later that Warren took over full time as President of the company. The 1970's saw a change away from televisions and stereos to better focus on the school music needs. This was the advent of the Educational Services Program. The 1980's saw closure to the sale of acoustic pianos but reintroduced electronics and Pro Audio. We now had sound systems and lighting to fill the needs of the school/church market. In the late 80's two of the Brown's daughters, Stephanie and Whitney, joined the company. Stephanie ran the Richland Store and Whitney was at our Evergreen Plaza Store. The three continued to work as a team out of the new store on Tacoma Mall Blvd. On July 1st 2004, Warren announced that Whitney Brown-Grisaffi will succeed him as company President. Stephanie Brown-Howe has been named Vice-President. As you can see, Ted Brown Music has seen a lot of changes over the last 76 years. What has stayed the same is the family's dedication to the music community and helping people enjoy music.

Clover Park Rotary Club - The Clover Park Rotary page focuses primarily on the great things we do in the local community since Rotary International does such a great job of talking about the world projects. From its inception the club has enjoyed a great fellowship attitude and participated in numerous community activities. Some fellowship activities included a dine-around program, halloween costume parties and children's Christmas parties. Adopting Southgate Elementary School has been the club's brightest achievement. Initially club members helped the school's staff with funds for equipment. This grew into a program of personal visits to classrooms and culminated with a program giving all youngsters in a sixth grade class virtually a full scholarship to a college or tech school if they qualified. To fund the program the members conducted annual rose sales, an invitational dinner, raffles, golf tourney and other fund raisers.

Rotarians for Hearing Regeneration - Rotarians for Hearing Regeneration; A Rotarian Action Group formerly know as The International Fellowship of Rotarians Affected by Hearing Loss (IFRAHL), sponsored by Clover Park Rotary Club, has received Rotary International approval as an Action Group. RFHR's purpose is to unite Rotarians around the world to create more awareness of the problems associated with the loss of hearing. These problems impact the individuals and their families as well as our society with both economic and personal loss. The Action Group will also promote interest in research and the funding of the Hearing Regeneration Initiative at the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center at the University of Washington.

Rotary Club of Tacoma #8 - The Rotary Club of Tacoma #8 was organized early in 1910 after insurance agent Harry Pelletier attended a meeting of Seattle Rotary #4. With the Seattle club's assistance, the first meeting of the Tacoma chapter was held on January 29, 1910. The club was incorporated on February 2, 1910 and the new Tacoma chapter became the 8th club in the world of Rotary International. Seventy members were listed in the club's roster in 1910. Today, the membership has grown to more than 400 members who are part of a diverse group of professional leaders working to address various community and international service needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world. Our members are our most important asset. They are the force that allows Rotary to carry out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its mission.

Tacoma Area Coalition of Individuals with Disabilities - The Tacoma Area Coalition for Individuals with Disabilities (TACID) was formed in 1980 of four disability organizations representing the Deaf, blind, multiple sclerosis and physical disabilities. Two of these organizations are still active and involved. TACID incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation by the end of 1980. The TACID Center was built under Referendum 37. Through this initiative the voters of Washington approved $25 million in general state obligation bonds for facilities to train, rehabilitate and care for handicapped persons. In TACID's case the Referendum agreement enabled a new, fully accessible community center to be built at a cost of $1 million on the grounds of Tacoma Community College, South 19th Street, Tacoma. This fully accessible facility opened in 1984. Over the years since then the range of support groups, disability programs and other activities has grown.

Tacoma Exchange Club -The Exchange Club of Tacoma is a non-profit, service organization. The club provides hands-on opportunity for community volunteers and also assists other worthwhile programs with grants. Weekly meetings are generally held each Thursday morning. The meetings start at 7:00 a.m. and usually have a community speaker as a program. The meetings are lively and enjoyable. There is virtually no ceremony. The meetings are over by 8:00 a.m. or shortly thereafter. Guests are always welcome. We meet at Alterra Villas on Union Park, 2010 So. Union Avenue. Come and join us for breakfast!
